Dear students,
Welcome to the first course of biochemistry in your Medical degree program. The course will be taught by Prof. Massimo Aureli and Prof. Giulia Lunghi. Together, we will explore the fundamentals of human biochemistry both in physiological conditions and in disease states.
The course consists of 30 synchronous lessons, 3 asynchronous lessons, and 3 lessons dedicated to problem-based learning (PBL). The asynchronous lessons are to be completed independently by you, and the achievement of objectives will be assessed through a dedicated test which you will find in the appropriate section of our website, My Ariel. Please remember that the quiz must be completed by April 30th.
All other information regarding the course can be found in the syllabus file uploaded in the "General Info about the course" section.
Best regards,
Massimo Aureli and Giulia Lunghi
Good luck with your studies!

FBS is aimed at providing students with fundamental elements of chemistry and physics that are relevant to medical doctors. The knowledge acquired during this block is fundamental to understand metabolism processes encountered during the course of medical studies, interactions between structure, chemical properties and function of compounds found in living organisms, and to create simple and manageable physical models that recapitulate complex phenomena in biological systems.
