Welcome to the MyAriel page of the course AI and Data Cultures (A.Y. 2025–2026). This year, classes will take place from April 2 to June 12, 2026.
The course explores the role of generative AI in the production of cultural content and examines how these outputs can be analysed through robust methodological approaches. The aim is to develop a critical understanding of how generative AI contributes to digital culture and shapes our perception of social reality.
The main objective of this course is to build a critical understanding of digital cultures and their empirical study, placing a specific focus on how generative artificial intelligence affects both knowledge construction and creative processes. Students will be encouraged to develop an original research design and to conduct their own analysis of a digital phenomenon. Particular attention will also be paid to the challenges of using AI as a research tool and the implications for cultural and professional practices
To this end, classes combine theoretical discussions, short activities, methodological sessions, and hands-on workshops. Throughout the course, students will engage with key concepts and analytical tools by applying them and reflecting on them collectively. Active participation is therefore strongly encouraged for attending students. The course aims to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which everyone can share ideas and perspectives openly.
